Grandparent's Day

We were fortunate to be in town for Bennett’s preschool Grandparent’s Day.  Bennett is in the Wallaby class which is clearly indicated by the sign on the door.
We followed the youngsters through their morning and got to watch the opening song celebrating Friday.
Then they sang “Hoist Up the John B. Sail” by the Beach Boys as part of their study of pirates under the lead of their teacher, Miss Erin.
We were part of the “train” following the teachers into the American History Museum on a search for boats.

Then the children did creative play at Wegman Wonderplace where they could climb into a house, grow plants and cook meals, all great fun.

Back in the classroom each child got the opportunity to "sail" their pirate ship across the "ocean" creating their own "wind".
While they had lunch, the grandparents had a chance to talk and enjoy our own lunch followed by  a guided tour of pre- and Renaissance Art at the National Gallery.  The highlight was a view of the front and back of a De Vinci painting.

It was a great day and we were glad to be there.
