St. Petersburg (Florida not Russia)

We began our day in St. Pete’s at the new Dali Museum. The building was designed and built by a disciple of I. M. Pei and is enjoyable from many angles. Rocks surrounding the museum come from Figueres, Spain, Dali’s home town. The grounds have a maze
When we visited the Picasso Museum near Barcelona, we learned a deeper appreciation of his art. We had the same experience at the Dali. The audio guide also taught us a lot. We didn’t see the better known melting clocks and desolation. This exhibit includes some large works that are magnificent in execution such as his tribute to the founding of America and his finding America. We lack the words to describe these painting and, unfortunately, photography is forbidden.

Our next stop was at the Holocaust Museum where again the audio guide was very good. The museum has a box car used by the Nazis to transport Jews to the concentration camps. Among the painful displays were a tambourine and a wallet made from Torah scrolls. The museum is an excellent learning center for those who know and for those who have not yet learned of the Holocaust as well as other genocides currently happening in the world.

Will and Nancy Greenberg, Anna Lee’s nephew and his wife met us for dinner at Bellabrava. We enjoyed lively conversation and finished off the evening with delicious three-flavored cups of gelato.
