On the Road Again

Our 2017 adventures have begun.  After a long winter (for us all), we are glad to be in the RV and off to see more of this wonderful country.  After being home for six months, we are a bit rusty in our favorite activities.  As a warm up, we went to a museum (of course).  The Crocker Museum in Sacramento has a excellent exhibit of Japanese ceramics.  A group of us enjoyed touring this exhibit as well as checking out others.  This one entitled Forbidden Fruit by Chris Antemann at Meissen, the leading porcelain factory in Germany, caught our eye.  With its excellent “craftswomanship” and rather naughty figures, we all found it enchanting.
Eager to leave the long rainy spell of California, we have headed east to spend the night in the wonderful parking lot at Walmart in Winnemucca, NV.  We enjoyed the beauty of the snow as we drove on I 80 through the Sierra Nevadas.

Our wish for warmth was dashed as the cold air came in and blew snow crystals at our windshield.  Fortunately, the snow did not stick so we made it to Salt Lake City where we enjoyed our other favorite activity, dining.  We passed up our favorite SLC restaurant, The Red Iguana, since we plan to be there Saturday night with our family (more about that later).  Trip Advisor recommended Takashi an outstanding sushi restaurant that is now at the top of our Japanese restaurant list.  Great food, lovely decor, and charming service, what’s not to rave about?

We are looking forward to tomorrow when Bennett and his parents join us.
