Vermont Means Green

Evening thunder storms and daily rain squalls account for the lush green surrounding the country lanes we have been traversing. Buildings 100+ years old crowd the road, a reminder that what are now roads were originally trails for horses and carriages. For us they are charming sights and spectacular views.

After dropping Jeff off in Troy we entered Vermont for a brief foray. Our two lane road took us to Brandon, a town out of Our Town. In front of the brick and frame buildings were decorated stars, about three feet in dimension. The town chooses a theme each year and then decorates the items according to taste or message, ie, forks and knives at a restaurant or sheers at a beauty shop. We found Café Provence a fabulous restaurant, where we enjoyed smoked salmon ravioli, steak (Jerry) and scrod (Anna Lee). Norman Rockwell, who lived in Vermont, came to mind as we walked by an antique store/ice cream parlor where town residents lined up for a sweet, cool treat.
