Pella

Our friend Marge is a native Iowan and gave us a list of things to see. At the top of the list was Pella, a charming Dutch town. We took another Volksmarch around the town enjoying lovely brick and frame homes, lush gardens, and windmills. Unfortunately we missed the timing for the glockenspiel, but had no problem enjoying two important features of the town, the bakery and butcher shop. It took all Anna Lee's will power to limit our purchases to bread, sweet rolls, and cookies, all treats for the next week. Jerry disagreed with this limitation, suggesting that we seldom even enter a bakery, much less one this good and we had to help the economy by spending money. Jerry did buy a ring of beef bologna in the meat store. This was recommended by a man he met in the park. Oscar Meyer isn’t even close to this. Jerry thought it was unique and wonderful.
