Not Buying Corn

The Winterset Courthouse dome

Our lunch in Winterset was at the diner that was in the film Bridges of Madison County. We were told that Clint Eastwood sat on one of the stools at the counter but there was no brass plaque on any of them. The food was good. The town is the birthplace of John Wayne. As we were leaving, we saw a corn wagon and wanted to buy some for dinner. The boy selling them would not accept payment because we only bought two ears; he hoped we would return for more. Unfortunately, though the yellow and white corn later proved to be delicious, we didn’t need more at this time.
